With the 10 year reunion on 9/11 coming up soon I guess I should say something. A few months ago I found out that one of my really good friends from Snow College was killed by a road side bomb in Iraq/Afghanistan it was really hard for me to hear I hadn't heard from him since he left and we honestly talked everyday when we were in school. After his death I kept watching the news and it felt like every week another solider was killed from Utah. Then a few days ago my cousin who I have looked up to for a lot of my life just got deployed to Iraq/Afghanistan. It really got me to thinking about how lucky we are to be living in America with so many freedoms and no crazy people that put bombs on the side of the road. My uncle, cousin, and grandpa have all served in some war during there life and am really grateful for all of them. My uncle was also in the pentagon on Sept 11 when the plane hit but thankfully he was able to get out safely and shortly after he retired. I really am grateful for those who are serving, including those who have or will serve I could not even imagine doing it myself I know I could not handle it.

Jess, I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. I have a cousin who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and every time I'd hear of a soldier dying, I would pray that it wasn't him. You're very right--we take our freedoms for granted. Thanks for the reminder to have a more grateful attitude.
